Why would someone take such a harsh step? It bothered me for a while and I thought I’ll get some good opinions here. And who knows maybe somebody will read this and get some perspective.

I had a dream. More like a nightmare actually where I fell from the top of a building. Kind of falling from a balcony. And I have a history of having random nightmares but I have kind of learnt to live with it. Now, I could’ve taken one of the two routes – either I over analyze my dream and what it means or I overthink and drive into a totally different direction. I chose the latter.
So.. I imagined what would be going on in somebody’s head when they decide to commit suicide. Can someone be so fed up of their life that they can take that step. It feel pretty scary honestly. I can’t imagine someone in that position and what do you say to them.
I believe it has a lot to do with depression and anxiety but it is always clearly evident. Some people, especially when you look at celebrities who appear to have it all, also commit suicide and even their family is under utter shock because there are no signs.
I was also wondering whether it’s a planned out step or an impulsive one. I am assuming it has to be impulsive otherwise you might realise the magnitude of what you are going to do.
“There comes a time when you look into the mirror and you realize that what you see is all that you will ever be. And then you accept it. Or you kill yourself. Or you stop looking in mirrors.”
And how painful would someone’s life be if the only way they can think out of it is death. They must be going through some sort of daily suffering, or reliving some trauma that they can’t let go of or maybe they’ve just lost all kinds of hope that life can be better that death. And who knows what death entails. I think people sometimes also forget or don’t care about the impact that their decision is going to have on their lived one. I mean, the person committing suicide just dies and gets rid of their pain but in reality they pass it one to the ones who they leave behind to moan for them.
And as I write this I realise that, in the current scenario so many people would be feeling distressed. Mental health strengthening is of utmost importance. I think we need to have a good mental health not just for ourselves but to help anyone whenever we can. But as they say in the in-flight announcement, help yourself before helping others. Don’t give more than you have but seek help whenever you can.
