The story of dead legs

As you’d have noticed from my photo blogs, I love to travel. Me and my husband both do. He also loves walks and hikes. I am a bit lazy in this respect but somehow I get convinced everytime to take up these incredible hikes. And while the views are amazing, the pains next day are so awful. Today is one of those next days.

This is my steps counting app. You see that spike? That’s the trek.

Yesterday we went for a trek called Triund in Mcleodganj. It is about 9 km one way (I think 6 miles). And it is called a beginner Himalaya trek of moderate difficulty. Liars!! No doubt it was crazy scenic but it was far from moderate difficulty.

Enroute to the top

I dragged my feet all the way to the top huffing and puffing throughout. And all the way down with my legs screaming at every step. Probably should’ve camped at the top.

This was the easy part of the trek

But what a sense of accomplishment! I know I complain a lot about my health but I was so happy when my body didn’t totally give up, midway the hike. Despite the kidney stone and whatnot.

The classic pic after every trek!

Oh and another thing, this trek doesn’t have any public utilities (washroom) along the way so you know, you need to relieve yourself in the vast beauty of nature, if you have to. Lol. Tell that to somebody who needs to drink litres and litres of water of water daily.

My inspiration for going in the open. If this poor animal can, I can πŸ˜‰

Anyway, I did it. All the way up and back. We started at 7 in the morning and were at the top by 11. Then we wandered around, took pictures and laid in the grass. Had some food and tea and then I fell asleep!! I snored under the sun on wet grass!!

I’m the king of the world
And there was this cute little lord shiva temple at the top

That was about yesterday and today my feet won’t listen to me anymore. They are moving willy nilly, if at all. And everytime I look at stairs I start shivering. But I’m sure I’ll be fine by tomorrow. The hotel we’re checking into tomorrow has a nice jacuzzi that I’m so looking forward to falling asleep in πŸ˜‚ 😴

Here are some more pictures. Enjoy!

  3. My husband likes to take me on “death marches” which are treks through wilderness that are supposed to be short and easy… they never are and there are never any facilities. Ever since the 2 mile “stroll” through the desert at noon where you can see for miles and distance is deceiving, I’ve wanted a shewee or pstyle. I finally got one – it has been a life saver!! I highly recommend it (though it takes a little practice)…
